What has been your own personal experience of shunning?
by UnshackleTheChains ini am interested in finding out on a small scale the extent of which shunning has impacted on you personally.. my own experience is that when i faded about 12 years ago.
the woman whose house the book study was held at (and who was virtually a neighbour) walked right past me in my own street.
i remember it so well.

I was disfellowshipped at the age of 16 and saw my parents about 3 times (in passing) over 26 years. Got to see a little of my Dad before he died of cancer in 2015. When the funeral was over my mother shunned me again along with my two brothers. xxx -

Is the year 2020 the new prediction for Armageddon?
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini have had a conversation this evening with a jw friend i have known since childhood.
he is of the opinion that armageddon will have come and gone within the next 5 years.
are the jws now pinpointing 2020 as the supposed year?

He could have said it will all be over in 5 years just to get me back into it again, I was just wondering if 2020 had been mentioned I their publications that's all and I was asking not generalizing Village Idiot. :-/ x -

First time back in a KH in 8 months
by Normalfulla inso... one of my employees is a miserable servant and was giving the pt and invited me to come knowing full well i was faded out, i go along cos i respect him and thought why not, i must admit i was a little nervous headed back there (a neighboring hall not my old one) i saw alot of familiar faces and some old friends who were aware of my fade, all so pleased to see me at a meeting again and i can sum up how i felt about the experience like this.. .
have you ever been to a party and been the only sober person there and are totally aware of the ridiculous things said and going on?
that's what it felt like except the party would have been more fun of course,... all these good people, drunk off their heads on wt propaganda and false hopes, the irony was the talk was titled "does your life have meaning?".

I can understand the description of being the only sober person. It felt that way when I returned for a while. I did wonder though how many people in the congregation do secretly have doubts but keep them to themselves. :-) x

I am so sorry to hear this, I know how you feel. My father passed away in 2015 and I grieve for all the years I was shunned and couldn't be with him. My mother is a fanatical cruel woman too and bitter because she is old (she never thought she would be) and now without my father. She continues to shun me, but I remind myself that my parents are JW robots, I never knew them as real people. You cannot have a proper parent/child relationship with robots can you. 6 New Kingdom Halls Built In The US This Year
by James Jack inon our local needs part tonight, the elder (on the local ldc), conducting the part, said he just got back from a meeting in memphis tn with members from the us branch rdc conducting the meeting.
they mentioned that only 6 new kingdom halls and 2 major re-models were completed in 2016.
"it may seem like a small accomplishment, considering under the old rbc arrangement there was some 700 projects on the average each year being done", "but, this is going 5-10 years of training to kick this new program into optima production".

Faith to Faithless XJW event London, UK

Learning Other Languages
by Disassociated Lady 2 inthe jw org keeps its servants busier than ever these days so that their minds are occupied 24/7.
they ensure that there is no time for anything "worldly" to distract them.. in last week's watchtower article on spiritual health they are putting pressure on the congregation to learn other languages on top of everything else they do.
they allude to the fact that their spiritual health will suffer if they cannot understand the talks and publications in other languages.

I can se your point "Scratch Me" but going back to a congregation for 5 months I saw a huge change in the way things are done. I think that congregations can vary too, the one I attended seemed stricter than the one my parents attend. Depends upon the elders you get whether they are "old school" or not. :-) x
